Food Justice Poster Design - 2018
Illustration and design for the Community Alliance for Global Justice’s annual benefit dinner
For the third year in a row, I illustrated and designed the poster for the Community Alliance for Global Justice’s benefit dinner. CAGJ wanted to it to communicate the importance of immigration and food workers rights as it relates to our food system.
As the organization works closely with Washington food workers, I initially chose an apple as the figure’s beacon. However, the farm workers’ union that CAGJ works most closely with supports those in the berry fields here in the state, so the apple was traded for a handful of berries.
The main figure shares center stage with a butterfly wing, as butterflies are a symbol used by the movement for migration freedom and immigration rights.
